Hello LGCS Families,

We did it!!! Thank you to everyone who made the return of the Alexis Briski Memorial Tournament possible! It was a group effort from and by so many of our LGCS softball families, as well as neighboring leagues. We want to extend our sincere appreciation to each and every person who contributed their time and effort both before and during this event! If we try to mention everybody, the list would be too lengthy. If you were one of the many who contributed time and effort, please know that your effort(s) was appreciated and necessary!

I wanted to share with you some of our numbers. The tournament had 38 teams from 20 different organizations participating. There were over 450 girls in 4 age brackets taking part. We had 90 games, across 10 fields at 5 sites, over 2 days. Our monetary input for the tournament was roughly $26,000 with expenses totalling close to $17,000. 7 teams worth of Magic families made this happen! As well as 1 solar eclipse.

Our league should be proud of the continuation of this tournament and the service it provides in terms of a tournament and a scholarship. Last year, LGCS gave out $6,000 in scholarship money to 4 graduating high school seniors who qualified and applied for the Alexis Briski Memorial Scholarship. This year, our efforts resulted in adding $9,000 to the scholarship that LGCS will give away. This is all in the name and honor of Alexis Briski.

It was special to have the Briski family make the trip from North Tahoe to visit the tournament. It was a pleasure to meet them and to see Kael wearing this year’s tournament shirt, eating bbq, taking photos, coaching first base, catching up with some coaches he coached with who are still coaching their youngest daughters, and smiling at the LGCS softball league and community that is still going strong.

Thank you again to everybody who made this 2023 Alexis Briski Memorial Tournament a positive success!

Go Magic!
