Included in LGCS Spring Rec registration fees are optional (but fun and very useful) pre-season clinics covering each of the key fundamentals of fastpitch softball.  We offer three different types of clinics: Pitching, Catching, and Hitting & Defense, each of which are run by the professionals at Cutting Edge Softball (CES) & college athletes at West Valley College (WVC).

Clinic signup is based on your player’s age/division.  Please sign up for clinics by Jan 1, 2023, and don’t wait as there is limited availability.

  • Hitting & Defense Clinics – These clinics are intended to focus on the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, and throwing in order to help introduce the basic skills of fastpitch softball to newer players, as well as to help returning players shake off the rust from the off-season.  This clinic is held rain or shine.
  • Catchers Clinic – This clinic is intended to focus on the fundamentals of playing the catcher’s position and are a great intro to the fundamentals for those wanting to learn the position, as well as a chance for experienced catchers to work on the core skills for the position and shake off any rust from the off-season.  This clinic is held rain or shine.
  • Pitchers Clinics – These clinics focus on the specialized fundamental skills and technique involved in the pitching motion in girls fastpitch softball.  These clinics should not only help returning experienced pitchers shake off the rust from the off-season, but will be key to helping newer players start to develop the unique skills required to play the pitchers position.  This clinic will be held in good weather (no rain) only as this clinic is held outdoor.

For the Cutting Edge Softball (CES) clinics there are

    – 4 time slots offered for the Hitting & Defense Clinics,

    – 3 time slots offered for the Pitching Clinics, and

    – 1 time slot offered for the Catching Clinic.

Please note that players must select one time slot and stick with that time slot for all 5 sessions of any clinics they sign up for!  Switching back and forth between time slots is not allowed and if you attempt to sign up for more than one time slot over the five sessions of any clinic, all of your signups will be removed from the system.   Also please note that the maximum number of players the Cutting Edge facility can accommodate in any one session is 14 players, so please do not sign your daughter up for a time slot that already has 14 players signed up!  Maximum for the Pitching Clinics at Foothill is 8 players per time slot.

For the West Valley College (WVC) clinic, please note that this clinic is for 12U players only, please do not sign up for this clinic unless your daughter is a 12U player.
