S’26 – ALL THE DETAILS
Hello Softball Families,
Welcome to LGCS Fastpitch! We’re so excited to have you as part of our softball community this spring and can’t wait to meet you.
Full transparency:
We have been having some communications issues with TeamSnap. LGCS leadership is a passionate bunch of parent and community volunteers doing their best to organize a softball league in our “spare time”. Once we have everyone set up in TeamSnap on their respective teams, comms will get a lot easier. Thanks for your patience!

Spring Rec ’26 is shaping up to be one of our biggest and best seasons yet, and we’re thrilled to get everyone out on the field for a season full of learning, teamwork, and fun.
This is your last chance to get friends to register! If you know someone who might be interested in playing—or learning—the game, LGCS Spring Rec is the perfect place to start. We’d love to welcome a few more new faces to the field! Our 8u division specifically could use a few more players to fill all teams. Get your friends in on this!

As we gear up, here are a few important reminders:
Evaluations are this Saturday, 1/31, at Foothill Elementary, Saratoga.
Evaluation Schedule (location does not affect times):
- 8U: 9:00–10:30 AM
- 10U: 10:00 AM–12:30 PM
- 12U: 12:00–1:30 PM
- 14U: (handled separately)
No evals for 6U
Q. Why do we have to do evaluations?
A. Evaluations are required by USA Softball. They also help LGCS leadership and coaches evenly balance spring rec teams along with friend requests. They are NOT tryouts. EVERYONE makes a team.
What you’ll need for evals:
- Helmet
- Face mask
- Glove (more glove details below)
- Cleats (soccer ok)
Looking for gently used gear or have gear you no longer need?
We will host an equipment swap at evaluations.

EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS
GLOVE:
Less expensive gloves are fine for younger ages because they grow out of them. Most places like Dicks and Charlie Rose offer to break them in (get them ready to play) at an additional cost. Though Amazon is probably more affordable
Rawlings Softball Glove – https://a.co/d/6iNU7JD
GLOVE SIZE CHEAT SHEET BY AGE:
6U Glove size recommendation 10, 10.5 or 11 inch.
Ball size-10 inch
8U Glove size 11 or 11.5 inch
ball size 10 inch
10u Glove size 12 inch
Ball size 11 inch
12U Glove size 12-13 inch
Ball size 12 inch
14U Glove size 12-13 inch
Ball size 12 inch
PRO TIP:
Do not buy a plastic glove! It will break and not last. It’s better to buy or borrow a used leather glove rather than a plastic glove.
_________
BATTING GLOVES:
Optional! What’s the purpose? Extra grip and padding when hitting. Protects the hands from vibrations and if sliding headfirst (upper levels!)
_________
EQUIPMENT BAG:
Does it look big? Yes. Is it big enough? Probably not. When deciding what bag to get, go for the bigger one. Girls are always trying to shove all of their equipment, including helmets, in a bag their parents thought was big enough and it just never works out.
_________
FOR SEASON – YOU WILL NEED BLACK PANTS:
6u/8u can get away with black yoga pants or black sweats, but softball pants are ideal. https://a.co/d/2QrmLT6
_________
BAT:
This is personal preference and any sporting goods store can help.
